| Tip of the Month In the Tennessee hot and humid summer heat, if your car ever gets hot, while sitting in traffic, or in a drive thru, 1st very important step is, if you have the a/c on, cut it off asap. The a/c running is the number 1 reason a car will over heat. Now this is going to sound werid, if the car is running hot and the a/c is NOT ON, then cut the a/c on, to see if it cools off within 5 mins. reason is, if its hot and a/c is not on, this should cut on a extra cooling fan to help cool the car down,. If a/c was already on, and car was hot, cutting it off reduces a huge strain on your engine and that alone should cool it off. It is very important you get into your shop, or any shop ASAP, because if you ever run a car too hot, it will blow a head gasket, which is a major and expensive repair, and if you keep driving, you will blow the motor, and thats usually double the price of a head gasket job. Also very important, keep a close eye on your gauges during the summer, and if your gauge isnt working right, when your car gets hot, you can smell it. It's just a different smell than normal and it has a hot and burning smell to it.
